A reappointed CEO and a new Board of Directors has signalled a new era for Deaf Children Australia, one of Australia’s oldest and most respected not-for-profit organisations.
One of the first acts of the Board under newly appointed Chair Janet Collins was the announcement of David Wilson as CEO.
“David brings over 14 years of experience in the disability sector in various senior management and leadership roles, including here at Deaf Children Australia,” Ms Collins said.
“He has a strong background in service delivery, business development and leadership and brings a collaborative approach to working with key stakeholders to navigate the ever-changing environment.
“David is committed to shaping a contemporary organisation that is data-driven, focused on innovation, and upholding a culture that is open, transparent, and accountable.”
David Wilson said: “Every day, our team continues to help build inclusive communities and connections for deaf and hard of hearing children, young people and their families and I am proud to have the opportunity to lead the DCA team and to support the best outcomes for our stakeholders through our work.”
Ms Collins thanked the previous Board and welcomed new Directors Nicola Paroissien (Deputy Chair), Anthony Busuttil (Treasurer), Geoff Manton, Irena Farinacci, Noel Henderson, Tamara Trinder-Scacco and Jacky Clark. The new Board continues Deaf Children Australia’s tradition of supporting individuals with lived experience of deafness, sector professionals, parents and family members of deaf children.
“The Board is a group of talented, passionate and experienced people who bring a wealth of knowledge, skills and networks that will help build a positive future for DCA and the Deaf and Hard of Hearing community,” Ms Collins said.
“Each Director brings a unique perspective and helps to provide diverse governance to the organisation, working closely with the Executive Team.
As Chair of the board, I intend to work alongside my colleagues, David and his team and the Deaf and Hard of Hearing community to build a bright future for DCA.”
Deaf Children Australia’s mission is to champion the growth and social inclusion of deaf and hard of hearing children and young people, delivering programs, events and resources to build confidence and connections for children and their families and create a more inclusive Australian community.
