For Taine Venables, who dreams of one day being a V8 Driver – racing has always been close to his heart. As a Go-Kart Driver, Taine is a two-time Victorian State Title Holder in Karting, winning the 2020 and 2021 state titles back-to-back.
Taine is also completely deaf in his right ear and has lost 25% of the hearing in his left ear.
Through the support of our Youth Grants program, we helped Taine Venables to participate in the final round of the Karting Championships in Murray Bridge.
With restrictions having disrupted karting, Taine was eager to have this chance to get back on the road – and has been hard at work preparing both on the road and through online racing competitions. Taine also keeps up his fitness training at work, where he is employed as an apprentice electrician.
The 3 day Australian Kart Championship was held over 3 days at Monarto in South Australia with over 260 of the best in the country competing.
Through his karting journey, Taine hopes to inspire other young deaf and hard of hearing people to achieve their dreams. Taine also shares his karting journey through his Facebook page – found at @tainevenablesracing.
