EXPRESSION OF INTEREST - CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER

Job description

Deaf Children Australia is seeking an experienced Chief Executive Officer on a full-time basis to join our team on-site at St Kilda Road, Melbourne, reporting to the Board.

Deaf Children Australia is a not-for-profit organisation that delivers a range of resources, programs, services, and events dedicated to improving the lives and aspirations of deaf and hard-of-hearing children, young adults, and their families.

Role and Responsibilities

· Leadership, culture, and management of staff including day-to-day operational aspects of the organisation as well as leading and managing the executive team

· Strategic business planning and reporting including driving strategic outcomes

· Financial management, including having oversight of all financial matters and delivering positive financial outcomes

· Business development and income generation

· Corporate governance

· Community engagement with a range of stakeholders

Essential Skills and Qualifications

· Tertiary qualifications in management, business, community services, or a related discipline

· Experience working with the deaf community and a commitment to learn Auslan

· A minimum of 5 years’ experience in an executive-level management role in the not-for-profit sector

· Strong governance and financial acumen, including budgeting, compliance, and strategic reporting to board level

· A demonstrated ability to lead high-performing teams and foster a values-based, inclusive culture

· A commitment to advocacy, equity, and community engagement

· Excellent communication skills utilised to forge professional relationships

Desirable

· Formal post-graduate qualifications in business management

· Practical working knowledge of government decision making processes

· Established connection with the deaf community
