DCA is inviting deaf and hard of hearing youth aged 16-18 years from all of Australia to a free online gathering where you will get the opportunity to connect with your peers. Join us for a casual hangout, take part in activities, learn from our mentors and discuss what being in lockdown and navigating Covid restrictions mean to you. But also feel free to discuss anything you want and meet new friends! This is a FREE event.

Description

Virtual Bubble creates connections for deaf and hard of hearing 16 - 18 year old youth from across Australia. Meet your peers and get a bit of respite during these difficult times.

This one-off session, will welcome participants to talk about their lives, meet new people, discuss what it means to be deaf and hard of hearing in lockdown and in times of Covid restrictions, enjoy activities prepared by our wonderful mentors and have a chat about anything and everything.

Our 2 young and friendly deaf mentors will facilitate the session. They have lived experience and are passionate about supporting young people, to help them build self-esteem and to reach their goals.

A bilingual environment of Auslan and spoken English is offered to support all forms of communication. An Auslan interpreter will be present. Live captions are available when required.

Virtual Bubble takes place via Zoom and runs on AEDT time.
