A family excursion to the Collingwood Children's Farm. Visit the farm, connect with other families - sharing experiences, making new connections and creating opportunities for DHH kids to play with kids like them. A fun and inclusive event, where families can interact with other families, and kids can meet the animals and play in nature! *Access to DCA events are subjected to participants adhering to State vaccination regulations and venues policy.*

Description

 Deaf Children Australia's Escape to the Farm is open to deaf and hard of hearing (DHH) children and their family. Come and visit the Collingwood Children's Farm, connect and socialise with other children and families, meet the animals and participate in an Auslan activity.

You will get to enjoy all the farm has to offer: experience the farm life, cuddle the goats or guinea pigs, say hi to the sheep and pigs, meet the farmers, or relax and play in nature, and explore the acres of paddocks.

The event includes:

  • entry to the farm
  • supervising staff
  • Auslan activity led by an Auslan tutor

 Please note that children will remain under their parent / caretaker's supervision at all times.

Collingwood Children's Famr requires all visitors above the age of 12 years to show evidence of full vaccination upon arrival. No refund will be given to participants who do not meet these requirements.

What to wear Comfortable shoes and dress according to weather. You might get muddy!
What to bring

Bring water, sunscreen and a hat.
Bring evidence of full Covid vaccination for visitors aged 12 years and up.

Getting there by bus Catch the 200 or 207 bus down Johnston Street to the Clarke Street stop
Getting there by train Catch a Mernda or Hurstbridge line train to Victoria Park Station.

NDIS

We have many participants who are self or plan-managed under NDIS who use their funds to cover the cost of DCA events and activities. Please note we do not provide specific line numbers and it is up to you to check with your NDIS provider if you can use your plan to pay for this event. Most participants will use core funding as it is most flexible. 

If you are NDIA managed, please send a copy of your NDIS plan to referral@deafchildren.org.au, 1 week before the commencement of Escape to the Farm.

A fun-filled afternoon for deaf and hard of hearing people aged 12-17 at Melbourne's iconic Luna Park. A great opportunity to enjoy the rides and meet and connect with your peers. 

Tennis with Friends (12-17yrs)

Come and join us for a fun group tennis session at the Victorian Tennis Academy in South Yarra. If you are new to the sport or want to develop your skills, come along.
