Description
Deaf Children Australia's Tennis with Friends is open to deaf and hard of hearing (DHH) people from 18 to 23 years. This community-focused tennis session is a great way to meet your peers, make new connections and engage in a physical activity.
The event includes:
- a 1hr 1/2 tennis lesson with your peers and a tennis coach
- tennis equipment
- half an hour to relax, mingle and enjoy light snacks and refreshments
- bilingual support workers
The event is open to any tennis level. The session will be broken down into:
- Rally-based activities that will develop player's strokes and understanding of tactics
- Point play (playing points or trying to reach a certain number of shots over the net as a team or competitively)
This event will have bilingual Auslan-English youth workers to assist with communication support.

NDIS
We have many participants who are self or plan-managed under NDIS who use their funds to cover the cost of DCA events and activities. Please note we do not provide specific line numbers and it is up to you to check with your NDIS provider if you can use your plan to pay for this event. Most participants will use core funding as it is most flexible.
If you are NDIA managed, please send a copy of your NDIS plan to referral@deafchildren.org.au, 1 week before the commencement of Tennis with Friends.
