Paddock to Plate is the ultimate foodie's tour. You'll go behind the scenes of the Queen Victoria Market to discover the history, multicultural influences and the many ways it has shaped Melbourne's food culture. It will be delivered face to face for Secondary school deaf and hard of hearing youth. It will take place on Thu 15 April, 2021 during the school holidays. EVENT FULL. Description

The Paddock to Plate ultimate foodie's tour of the QV Market goes behind the scenes. You'll experience the Market at its liveliest! You'll discover the very best produce on offer and uncover the specialty foods you can buy. You'll learn about the fascinating history and the multicultural influences that have shaped Melbourne's food culture. The tour also covers sustainability and its links to seasonality, provenance and waste management. You'll get an insight into the traders' lives and their experience in running a small business, plus much more! You'll also be treated to food and juice tastings!

This tour is for deaf and hard of hearing secondary school aged people. The tour guide will be English speaking and there will also be an Auslan interpreter.

Meet at the Queen Victoria Market, 65 Victoria Street, Melbourne at 10:15am (AEDT). Tour finishes at 12noon.

What to bring Comfortable walking shoes and dress according to outside temperature. Refillable water bottle.
Who can attend? Any deaf or hard of hearing secondary school aged person
How to get there:  
Tram Queen Victoria Market is located within the free tram zone. Take tram 19, 57 or 59 to stop 7 Elizabeth St, or tram 58 to stop 9 Peel St.
Train 7 minute walk from Melbourne Central and Flagstaff Station. Walk north along Elizabeth or William Street.
Car parking Enter the car park from Franklin or Queen street. Click here for car park rates.

NDIS

We have many participants who are self or plan managed under NDIS who use their funds to cover the cost of events. Please note we do not provide specific line numbers. Most participants will use core funding as it is most flexible. Events could also be covered by Capacity Building under Increased Social and Civic Participation. 

If you are NDIA managed please send a copy of your NDIS plan to referral@deafchildren.org.au as soon as possible.
