Senior Management

Deaf Children Australia’s Senior Management Team brings a wide range of professional and sector experience to our work. The team also includes individuals with a lived experience of deafness, and parents and family members of deaf young adults.

 

The Senior Management Team works collaboratively with the Board and benefits from their diverse perspectives and experience.

David Wilson - CEO

David joined Deaf Children Australia as the National Employment Services Manager in March 2018.
 

David has over 12 years’ experience in the disability sector in various senior management and leadership roles, with a strong background in service delivery, business development and leading teams in both for-profit and not-for-profit organisations
 

David has demonstrated experience in high quality service delivery of Commonwealth and State government contracts, working closely and effectively with key stakeholders, ensuring contract compliance and performance, and providing strategic leadership shaping service delivery to meet challenges in changing environments.
 

David is a dynamic, driven individual with proven experience in developing and fostering a high performance focussed environment and leading culture change.

Noel joined DCA over ten years ago and has been a Board Member, Chairman and more recently, the General Manager of Development and Fundraising. Noel is a professional member of the Fundraising Institute of Australia and is responsible for development of external relationships and income generation including through donor management, partners, corporates and philanthropy. Prior to joining DCA, Noel worked for some of the largest Information Technology companies in the world with new and emerging technologies.

Noel says, “I have been fortunate to follow my passion to work full time in the Deaf sector. I am a post lingual deaf person and I see technology as the great equaliser for deaf people.”

Angela Woodruff

Company Secretary

Angela joined DCA in April 2015 as the Company Secretary. She comes to DCA with over 18 years’ experience in law and communications. After qualifying as a lawyer, Angela moved to London for five years to further her career.

On returning to Melbourne, Angela worked in several senior roles in the Victorian Government culminating in serving as the Acting General Counsel for the Taxi Services Commission.

Although this is her first not for profit role, she has previously volunteered as a mentor and tutor for underprivileged children both at the Ardoch Youth Foundation and Tower Hamlets Primary School in East London.

Angela states, “I am honoured to be part of such a worthwhile organisation and aspire to provide robust advice and support to enable the DCA Board and management team to continue their inspiring work with deaf and hard of hearing children”.

Lynn joined DCA in March 2019 and is responsible for all aspects of the organisations finance function.

 

Lynn has more than 15 years financial experience across a diverse range of sectors in both the UK and Australia, including financial services, consulting and various NFPs. Prior to commencing in her current role, Lynn worked for SANE Australia, a National Mental Health charity and Jamie’s Ministry of Food, a health promotion program implemented through The Good Foundation.

 

Lynn has a Bachelor of Economics, and is a member of both the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants and is a Certified Practising Accountant. She has a Diploma in Project Management and completed her MBA in 2017.

Finance Manager

Melisa is a lawyer and Principal of Madison Sloan Lawyers where she works extensively in succession planning, estate planning, probate and property matters. She joined the Board in 2018.

Melisa is profoundly deaf and attended Princess Elizabeth Junior School for kinder. As a consequence of this, she identifies with and understands the challenges deaf and hard at hearing children and their families experience. She looks forward to learning more about the role DCA plays in assisting the deaf community with these challenges and the services they offer including those provided to deaf children in remote communities. She also understands the importance of the economic sustainability of DCA in servicing the diverse  needs of the deaf community.

Melisa joined the Board to make a difference to the deaf community that DCA service by working closely with other Board members to identify opportunities available and supporting deaf children in embracing these opportunities so they can enjoy enriched lives within the community.

Carol Webb joined the Board in 2018 and has over 15 years’ experience in the Human Resources arena. She has developed and implemented a broad range of leadership, strategic human resource management and organisational capability programs. As an experienced HR consultant, she has proven ability to coach managers, facilitate a range of corporate programs and work at Board level. She has extensive experience in change management, strategic planning, and has a passion for education and training.

Carol has a young son who is deaf and she is committed to enhancing the level of support and opportunities for children and young people with hearing loss. She is excited to be able to contribute to DCA and ensure its long-term success.

Her formal qualifications include a Bachelor of Commerce (Honours) and Masters of Management.

Carol Webb

William de Vere Gould joined the Board in 2019. He is currently a Client Director at Ernst and Young. William de Vere Gould has been employed at Ernst and Young for 10 years, the first five in London and the last five in Melbourne. Previously William worked at National Australia Bank (NAB) for four years where he became the Head of Operational Risk for the Australian Bank.

Prior to working at NAB William worked with Deloitte and Touche/Arthur Andersen for six years. During this time, William specialised in risk consulting, regulatory compliance and internal audits.

William de Vere Gould’s professional memberships and qualifications include:

  • Qualified chartered accountant

  • Member of the Institute of Internal Auditors of England and Wales

  • Member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of England and Wales
     

His qualifications include a Bachelor of Science (Honours) from the University of Nottingham, United Kingdom.

William stated that it is, “An honour to be part of organisation with such a rich history and admirable purpose, my hope is I can bring my personal experience and professional skills to assist the Board in making decisions that contribute to the lives children and young people in the Deaf community.”
