Career Start aims to assist people into genuine ongoing career opportunities by providing individualised services, innovative marketing strategies and access to valuable mentoring support.

Sign On Employment is highly experienced in securing employment opportunities for people with disabilities and we have assisted many clients reach their employment potential. With our targeted approach and clever marketing strategies we have been successful in placing our clients into a range of positions; from entry level roles, middle level government positions to corporate roles with some of Australia’s largest companies.

The difference between Career Start and other employment programs is that it has been designed to support people who may not be eligible for other government employment assistance; it is purely voluntary and is totally free.

What’s on offer?

Career Start and Sign On Employment are pleased to offer graduates with a disability and/or mental health issues the chance to participate in this Victoria-wide employment assistance program.

The Career Start program will be tailored to suit each participant and may include some of the following services:

  • career assessments to help identify areas of potential interest; 
  • tailored marketing by experienced consultants with links to employers across Victoria; 
  • career counselling and access to the Myers Briggs Type Indicator; 
  • job search training courses to enhance job seeking skills; 
  • funding support towards interview or work needs, eg. clothing, licensing or work equipment; 
  • Auslan Interpreting support; 
  • mentor support to maintain employment; 
  • access to workplace modifications.

 

Are you eligible?

To be eligible for Career Start participants will need to meet the following criteria:

  • be an Australian citizen;
  • have graduated from a Certificate III Level course or higher in the past two years at time of registration;
  • able to undertake at least 15 hours of work per week;
  • not be serviced by any Federally funded program such as DEN Capped or Uncapped;
  • not be a participant in Case Management services with Job Network;
  • be unemployed or only working on a casual/part-time/temporary basis less than 15 hours per week.
