Are you a keen photographer? Do you want to capture some of the most significant buildings in Melbourne in photos, and win a prize for it??
On July 19, you can explore more than 30 buildings and spaces in Melbourne. Many of them are usually closed to the public. Some of the examples are the hidden corridors under the Federation Square, the concrete underground passageways of Melbourne's first electricity substation, and Queens Hall, the oldest part of the State Library of Victoria. It will be a rare opportunity to see fascinating and diverse buildings from the 19th, 20th and 21st centuries! You may even get to meet a ghost if you are lucky….just joking! Entry to the buildings and spaces is free of charge.
As part of the event, they are also running a photography competition. Just take some photos on Sunday 19 July 2009 (the day of the Melbourne Open House event) and upload them to the Melbourne Open House group on flickr.com site for your chance to win some fantastic prizes and the opportunity to be published.
For more information about the list of buildings, how to enter, key dates and judging criteria, please visit the Melbourne Open House website http://melbourneopenhouse.org/cms-about-us/about-us.phps and go to the ‘Focus on MOH’ section.
