The Minister for Ageing, Justine Elliot, made an announcement that 12 independent cinemas around Australia will now screen movies with captions for deaf and hard of hearing Australians and audio descriptions for blind or vision impaired Australians.

From 12 cinemas currently offering captioned movies, we will now have 24. The additional cinemas are:

• Grand Cinemas, Bunbury, WA
• Big Screen Cinemas, Hervey Bay, QLD
• Palace Nova East End Cinemas, Adelaide SA
• Whyalla Cinema, SA
