
Prior to joining Deaf Children Australia in 2004, Gene had worked for more than 20 years with people facing significant life barriers. Gene has worked both as a practioner, and in policy and leadership roles. Over these years Gene has worked with individuals, groups and communities , partnering with organisations to enable greater access to opportunities for work and community participation.
At Deaf Children Australia, Gene is the National Manager, responsible for the Family and Community Services program – this includes case management services,, national information and advocacy services, accommodation, recreation and independent living skills programs.
Gene has a Bachelor of Arts and a post graduate degree in Social Administration. Gene is a qualified Social Worker and a member of the AASW.
