The Royal Institute for Deaf and Blind Children "Auslan Tutor" is a portable video-based Australian Sign Language (Auslan) teaching resource developed specifically for the iPhone and iPod touch. It is available from the iTunes website for AU$49.99. You should access the iTunes store from your iTunes application on your computer.

Auslan Tutor
The RIDBC Auslan Tutor is a fantastic innovation for any family learning Auslan. Its ease of use, clarity and navigation structure combine perfectly with its portability and smart design. A great concept for people who need to learn and refresh their Auslan knowledge in their own time.

When a first is second
The Auslan tutor is being promoted as a first. I remember using m.SignSwap.com.au on my old mobile back in 2006. It has a real search function, not just browsing through lists trying to find what they put the sign under.
Now of course it's become m.SignPlanet.net and has sections for older small screen mobiles and a larger one, suitable for iPhone AND Google Android AND Blackberry phones, something Auslan Tutor can't do.
Then there's the huge download, the Auslan tutor software won't even fit on a CD, and is over my monthly download limit. SignPlanet pages are light on the downloads, and being a website, is constantly being updated and expanded.
BEST OF ALL m.SignPlanet.net IS FREE!, though if you subscribe you can view your progress through the tutorials, activities and online tests.
